HD Online Player (nvidia Purevideo Decoder 1.02-223 Ke)

purevideo hd can decode all popular video formats that purevideo can decode, however you have to have a geforce 8-series or later series gpu to take advantage of it. that is because purevideo hd supports the hardware accelerated decoding of 1080p videos, 1080p truehd and 1080i high definition tv video formats.

the hardware accelerated decoding of 1080p videos, 1080p truehd and 1080i high definition tv video formats is good because it is a lot of extra functionality you are getting, however it is not a reason to choose purevideo hd over purevideo if you don't have an geforce 8-series or later series gpu.

in case you are interested in getting the purevideo api working on linux, there are actually two approaches, you can either try to use the vendor's open-source (but closed) linux driver, or you can try to use the open-source linux driver for the x11 cross-platform display api, x11r6. however the latter case has limitations, for example not all x11 r6 compliant driver can work with the purevideo api. of course, with x11r6 you get access to the x11 display, so you can for example start/stop your x11 application on the x11-display and use the opengl based api to display your application, but then you don't get access to the hardware accelerated video decoding and post-processing functions.

if you want to get nvidia's purevideo api running on linux, you should consider using the vendor's proprietary closed-source linux driver, and try to get it fixed before using it in a production environment.
